A new life

PHOTO PROMPT © Ceayr

The young girl looked around the garden, her pregnant belly bursting through the opening of her jacket. “So I can stay here for as long as I like?”

“Yes. You will help with the housework. If you get a job, you contribute towards the upkeep.”

Karima put her arm around the girl’s shoulders. “Don’t worry, love. Everything will be fine.” Truth was, she saw herself in this girl. In all the women that came to her Home For Single Mothers.

Years ago, Karima inherited the house from an unknown distant relative. She was seventeen. Pregnant. Homeless. It was a godsend.

What a beautiful house! I loved the shade of blue on all doors, shutters and railings.

It is a great story. At first I was a little afraid that it was going to go in a different direction – there are people that prey on the helpless and turn them into virtual slaves – so I’m glad you turned it to something more positive.

What a cheering story! I can imagine the incredulity in the young girl’s voice as she asks, “So I can stay here for as long as I like?”.
    Nicely written, Fatima!

One who was blessed is passing on the blessing. Paying it forward, as it were. Lovely story.

Such a loively story of good fortune shared. It’s sad enough that homes for single mothers are needed.

Such a nice idea – a shame that we need such places to exist at all. Nice one.
